A George II plain tapering cylindrical coffee-pot

On moulded foot, incurved at the base, with partly fluted curved spout, the domed cover with cone finial. The baluster form body with a scroll decorated cast spout and handle mountings.

Markings:
[1] Lion passant;
[2] Leopard head crowned;
[3] E;
[4] I C;
[5] Three castles.

This has no damage or repairs, a good hinge and stands true on a flat surface. Isaac Cookson (b. 1705, d. 1754), was born in Penrith and lived in Newcastle. He was one of the most notable silversmiths of the time.
