Omar Ramsden (1873 - 1939)
A fine George V silver mounted and enamel mazer bowl
Mark of Omar Ramsdsen, London, 1935

Property of a Nobleman

Note:
This example would seem to be amongst the largest of the mazer bowls Ramsdsen produced, and can be closely compared to the King's mazer of 1937, from the collection of the Middle Temple (P. Cannon-Brooks, Omar Ramsden, 1837-1939, Centenary Exhibition of Silver, Birmingham, 1973, no. 97), and another from the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. In each case, Ramsden has adapted the design to suit the commission; in this case, using the rams' heads from the Siddeley family crest around the border.
