Seller's Guide

Whether you wish to sell a single piece of art, a large collection, or the contents of a house Sloane Street Auctions offers our expertise and experience to help you realise the highest possible price. Our exceptional specialist and client service team will guide and support you through the entire auction process.

Step 1: Finding your object’s value by requesting a complimentary valuation

Submitting your item for a free auction estimate is the first step to selling with Sloane Street Auctions.

Ascertaining the most suitable path for selling your object can be done either online or in person. The first step in selling is to determine the value of your item. This can be done through requesting a free valuation or bringing your item into our showroom.

      1) Remote estimation

  • Please email info@sloanestreetauctions.com with the following details:
  • Clear colour images (front, back and detail of signature or maker’s mark)
  • A detailed description including medium/material and dimensions
  • Provenance (the history of the item and how it was acquired)
  • Artist or Maker (if known)

We will then be in touch to ascertain whether the piece is a suitable fit for Sloane Street Auctions and if so, provide a preliminary estimate and recommend the most suitable upcoming auction for your item to be placed in.

     2) Bring your item into our showroom

Additionally, if you wish to get the value of an item estimated in-person, you are welcome to make an appointment to visit our showroom at 158-166 Fulham Road or at 69 Lower Sloane Street.

Please note that all estimates are provisional and subject to revision on personal examination by a specialist. Any property submitted under this service must be owned by the party seeking an estimated value, or by a registered agent. Please also note that Sloane Street Auctions does not authenticate objects or artworks submitted, and does not accept liability in respect thereof. Sloane Street Auctions gives no representation, warranty or guarantee with respect to an item's origin, provenance, attribution, condition, date, age, value or authenticity

Step 2: Selling at auction

Sloane Street Auctions can guide you through the entire process of selling at auction. Once we have determined that your property is appropriate for sale at auction, our specialists will arrange every detail, from establishing estimates to cataloguing your property and marketing it to prospective buyers worldwide.

Your item will be marketed to our global network of collectors to ensure it is sold for the best possible price.

Sloane Street Auctions charges no sellers commission, but upon a successful sale of your item a 3.5% administration fee is deducted from the hammer. This includes coverage against Loss and Damage, as well as cataloguing, photography, marketing, condition reports and other relevant services to ensure the presentation and sale of your items.
