A German porcelain group with Mercury
KPM Berlin, design by Friedrich Elias Meyer c, 1761-63
mid-19th century
Modelled with a winged putto handing a letter to Mercury, Mercury wearing a winged cap, holding a caduceus and standing by a tree-stump with a cockerel at his feet, on a mound base.
The aperture on the underside of the base suggests that this group was probably once part of a larger table centre-piece, the aperture allowing it to slot into place.
Dimensions: 21.8 cm. high
