Umberto Schettini was born in Italy in 1932. After abandoning his law studies, he studied at the Institute of Fine Art F. Mengaroni in Pesaro in 1951. In 1956 he was awarded the French Government Scholarship to study in Paris. He settled in the United Kingdom and taught at various colleges across the country and in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s. His works were exhibited at Drian Galleries and the Municipal Art Gallery, Hull, and at the Palazzo della Permanente, Milan in 1974. He currently teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts at Brera, Milan.
