A Maori nephrite jade (pounamu) ear ornament (tangiwai) or pendant (kuru) with a leather loop, measuring 4.5 inches in length. From New Zealand, 18th Century or earlier. Collected by Admiral Grindall whilst he was an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolutionduring his second circumnavigation.
