From the Collection of Admiral Grindall, an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolution during his second circumnavigation; thence by direct descent through his family.

A white and black shell-bead (?) and shell Tongan (?) necklace on fibre with 14 ornaments. The shell ‘beads’ are no greater than 1 cm in length. The necklace is 56 cm long. Collected by Admiral Grindall in Tonga (?) whilst he was an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolution during his second circumnavigation. A list of the ornaments follows:
