From the Collection of Admiral Grindall, an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolution during his second circumnavigation; thence by direct descent through his family.
A three-spindled hair-piece of bird-bones and a woven flying fox fur fibre thong. New Caledonia (?), 18th Century or earlier. Spindles are approximately 18.5 cm long. The thong is 17 cm long. Collected by Admiral Grindall whilst he was an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolution during his second circumnavigation.
