Halima Nalecz was born in Wilno, Poland and studied under Prof. Roube, Prof. Zahorska and Henri J. Closon. She traveled throughout the world and lived in London from 1945 onwards. In 1956 she created the New Vision Centre Gallery with Denis Bowen and Frank Avery Wilson and in 1957 she opened Drian Galleries, which promoted avant-garde work and emerging artists. Her work is included in many private collections, as well as the Nuffield Foundation collection and the National Gallery of Israel, Bezel, Jerusalem and other public collections. A Green Plaque is dedicated to her at Porchester Place.
