[a] A graphite portrait of John Keate (1773 - 1852), Headmaster of Eton College. Indistinctly signed lower right, 'E B ?'. It is said that in 1832 Keate beat more than 80 boys on the same day, and once told some ex-pupils that his only regret was that he had not flogged them more.
