From the Collection of Admiral Grindall, an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolution during his second circumnavigation; thence by direct descent through his family.
A bead necklace on string of 101 amber-like (?) beads and measuring 57 cm in length. The beads are either roughly spherical or disc-shaped, with the exception of one elongated bead. Collected by Admiral Grindall whilst he was an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolution during his second circumnavigation. Collected during the final stage of the homeward voyage while the ships stopped for Christmas at Tierra del Fuego in 1774 (?).
