From the Collection of Admiral Grindall, an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolution during his second circumnavigation; thence by direct descent through his family.
An Oceanic, Tahitian (?) mother of pearl fishhook, strung and polished. 18th Century or earlier. The hook measures 2.5 inches in length. The total length, including the fishing line, is 18.5 inches. Collected by Admiral Grindall whilst he was an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook’s Resolution during his second circumnavigation.
