Lilya Pavlovic-Dear was born in Yugoslavia in 1947. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Belgrade and did a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking at the Chelsea College of Arts in 1973, focusing on etching and silk screens. Her work was exhibited at Prudhoe Gallery, London, the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. and at the 2015 Venice Biennale. Many public and private collections include her works throughout Europe, such as the French Bibliothèque Nationale, the United Sates, such as the Museum of Modern Art, South Africa, and China. She taught at UCLA in the 1970s and is currently living and working between the United States and France.
