A pair of Qing Dynasty Chinese carved high relief jade ‘double gourds’ converted into lighters
With creeping foliate, one with a spider and a bee and the other with spider. Finely worked in the round. With gilded silver mountings. The bottom has a striker.
Maison Maquet became official purveyor to Empress Eugenie as well as to other royal courts, winning multiple awards and medals over the course of their history for their fine designs.
